You do not directly invoke the Motion engine program. If you set the environment variable MM_HOSTNAME, Pro/MECHANICA first attempts to connect to a running Pro/MECHANICA MOTION network engine on the computer that MM_HOSTNAME specifies. If it cannot connect to the network engine, Pro/MECHANICA starts a local private engine. The Motion engine then launches another program called the simulator.
After Pro/MECHANICA establishes an engine connection, it remains connected for the rest of the session, or until you make a change to the model. This means that you can request any number of analyses.
The engine reports the analysis results to Pro/MECHANICA through the same connection established when you started the first analysis. This means that you can view the animations of the analysis in real time as the engine generates the results.
