Unigraphics Customisation
This is a collection of files which allows you to customise UG to your own particular preferences.
It sets a customised environment for Unigraphics under NT without editing the origianal UG directories and files.
The customisation can be installed as is or be easily updated to your requirements.
This is V1.1 - for UG V17 on Windows NT Intel
How to install
The minimum
Download ZIP file (见附件1)
Extract zip data into directory. For example E:\users\mydir\custom_v17
Create environment variable UGSV_CUSTOM and give it value of the directory use used in last step.
Edit the file setup.bat :- change the value of UGII_HOME_DIR to your home directory (where new UG files default to)
Test by double clicking the ug17.bat which is in the customisation directory.
The finer points
If you wish to make furthur changes you just need to edit custom.bat and ugii/ug_metric.def in this directory
Note also load options and color table files.
Priciple is that the ugs170 directory is not changed at all, is as installed from CD.
Once you have set files to your preferences can copy to another machine and with minor change to setup.bat start UG as you like
The one exeption to this is non Englsih language support. I recommend for each lanaguage, set up subdirects in the LOCALIZATION direcory.
For German menu copy UGII_BASE_DIR\LOCALIZATION\ugii_ascii.lng_german to .\de as ugii.lng
The same for other languages using ISO 639 for the language codes.
For icon on desktop:-
Drag the "Steve's UG V17" in the custom directory to your desktop.
You can naturally change the name of the icon.
The symbol can also be changes by right mouse click icon the select Properties.
Select "Change Symbol" in directory %UGSV_CUSTOM%\icons are a few to choose from.
For my default toolbar menu positions (parametric free form design work) double click toolbar.reg
toolbar_simple.reg is a sorter list for simple feature modeling
If you have additional tools eg. UG/Weld, Moldwizard or UGTOOLS you can edit the path to where these tools are on your machine in the file:-
custom.bat
Then additional tools add path to the file menus\custom_dirs.dat
Recommend to use variables set in custom.bat
File is already set for Layer Wizard(见附件2) and other products.
Just need to copy software and set varialbes.
demovar.bat contains internal use only variables - note and use with care
ug_metric_def_changes.txt contains list of changes to the standard ug_metric.def
Note if someone has made changes to the ugii.bat ugii_env.bat or setenv.bat file in the UGII_ROOT_DIR things may not work as expected.
Therefor my request on all TSS, please do not change anything here, use this or similar method to make modes.
This helps all of us when we must quickly use someone elses machine at a trade fair or benchmark/demo.
Variable set in custom.bat are first read, if not set here (or in NT environment variables) then the default in ugii_env are used.
The ug_metric has been copied and edited, what has been changed are listed in ug_metric_def_changes.txt .
Note ug_metric.def has to be redone for new version or phase of UG (anyone know of a better way of doing this)?
If you have other user tools, programs or additional wizards it is best to control with a variable in custom.bat.
Add this to the custom_dirs.dat then in the directory of your tools have a startup directory.
Tool directories should contain startup directory with utd, tbr and/or men files.
If you have any useful customisation tips or comments, let me know.
Note some products that are referenced in custom.bat you will not have. They will simply be ignored.
Note with setup - FACET reference set is automatically created, SOLID is the expected part ref set.
On loading assembly facet will by default loaded.
