【转帖】Bosch accelerates on SolidWorks software

CONCORD, Mass., August 2, 2004 — Robert Bosch Corporation, a $5.2 billion supplier of technology to the automotive industry, is saving time and money by standardizing on SOLIDWORKS[$reg] Office Professional 3D mechanical design software for more than 200 manufacturing and support engineers in 21 plants around the world, SolidWorks Corporation announced today.  
  
Bosch's North American automotive manufacturing and support engineers develop machines and assembly lines to manufacture, assemble, and package auto parts and systems for distribution to leading automotive companies. Bosch engineers start with 3D solid models from product developers who design new parts to customer requirements.  
  
Morgan Machunze, a manufacturing engineer for Bosch in Gallatin, Tenn., originally started using SolidWorks software to support a large master cylinder assembly line which the facility purchased four years ago. “The process of creating the parts and drawings was at least 30 percent faster than even the best 2D CAD (computer-aided design) user could do,” he said. “SolidWorks has positively changed the way the manufacturing organization works here, and it will only improve as more suppliers and Bosch associates use SolidWorks.”  
  
SolidWorks software has provided “improved communication and a clearer understanding between technical and non-technical personnel,” said Stanley Kajdasz, a machine design engineer in the company's Charleston, S.C., plant. “It has given us the ability to share concepts and ideas with people next to us, as well as halfway around the world, with little misinterpretation.”  
  
Said Janine Essex, senior CAD systems administrator at Bosch, “SolidWorks provided us with excellent support in the pilot and ramp-up phases of our SolidWorks software rollout. Each month more engineers embrace SolidWorks, and they don't plan on going back to 2D.”  
  
FISHER/UNITECH, an authorized SolidWorks reseller, is providing ongoing software support and training to Bosch in North America.
