GLOUCESTERSHIRE, UK, September 28, 2004 - As well as integrating the recently introduced 5-axis machining function into the VISI-Machining module of its VISI-Series CAD/CAM software, Vero International has introduced a range of new and innovative features into its latest Release 12.
The new electrode tool holder within the VISI-Electrode function
The 5 Axis machining has been well received since its introduction at the MACH 2004 exhibition and is proving to be another valuable asset to the VISI software program, ensuring that VISI-Machining remains at the leading edge of CAM technology.
Other new features within VISI-Machining include ‘Planar face machining’ and a new option to create a 3D fillet over the entire machining mesh. This will allow the user to add a fillet slightly larger than the tool radius to ensure a smooth tool path transition without dwell.
The new gates and runners function with the VISI-Machining function
‘Advanced Point reduction’ for roughing spiral and planar face machining has been included to greatly reduce the number of points output for a roughing operation. New boundary methods have also been added to include ‘Silhouette boundaries’, ‘Cutter contact areas’ and ‘shallow areas’.
Improvements to the graphical interface include new ‘flat icon toolbars’, ‘new workplane axis visualization’ and significantly, a new ‘new dynamic modeling function. This has been incorporated for more than 30 modeling commands and allows the user to dynamically preview the function before committing to the operation.
Perhaps one of the most significant improvements for version 12 is ‘Associative dimensions’, a feature that allows the drawing and dimensions to be automatically updated inside the plot view when the model is modified.
Improvements have also been made to the interfaces to include the ability to open an imported file into the current session. New features include an integrated DXF/DWG translator, updated IGES export and the introduction of Parasolid V16.
VISI-Analysis has been improved in many areas with new features including the ability to detect small and slither surfaces. This will allow automatic detection of faces using a surface area tolerance while ‘Detect seed faces’ will quickly separate A & B surfaces using a deviation tolerance.
Split by colors" is a new addition to the Analysis menu that will allow the user to dynamically animate the movement of bodies using colors and directions.
Assembly Manager has been updated to include ‘Automatic ballooning’, the ability to create ‘mask templates’, ‘copy and paste for field selection’ and the ‘management of electrode holders’.
A new library of standard toolholders will be introduced within the VISI-Electrode function. This will include information for reference points and data related to the holder such as supplier, description etc.
Within VISI-Mould there is a new ‘Gates and Runner manager’ which allows dynamic definition of the path for the runner system and a choice of gating systems. The ‘Lifters’ and the ‘Cooling’ have been updated as improvements to the standard element catalogues.
The VISI-Progress module has many new enhancements including a new facility to automatically extract a skin from a complete model. The new ‘Extract skin’ function will save a huge amount of time on the laborious task of splitting the surfaces onto the correct side of punch or die. In addition, a new ‘Simplify’ function has been added to help the user when working with imported data. Also new is a ‘Ribs & Boss manager’ used in the creation of sheet metal parts and a new ‘Punch manager’ that will allow the user to modify and add heels to the punches within the tool design.
Finally VISI-Wire – successfully introduced with VISI-Series version 11 – has many new features. These include a new ‘Pocketing without hole’ operation, much improved 4 axis operations and new ‘Auto point’ and ‘Profile tool’ functionality. |
