PTC has discovered that there is an issue in the following datecodes of Pro/ENGINEER such that models saved in these builds cannot be successfully regenerated in earlier builds of these releases. For example, a model saved in Pro/ENGINEER 2001 2003120 When retrieved in earlier Pro/E builds, but when regenerated, section-based features will fail, and failure investigation will result in a premature exit. The affected builds are:

Pro/ENGINEER 2001, datecode 2003120 and datecode 2003160
Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire datecode 2003130

PTC has stopped shipment and download availability of these builds, and is recommending that customers do not deploy them, and consider the following points if they have already been deployed.

A fix for this issue will be available in the following builds of software:

? Pro/ENGINEER 2001, datecode 2003161, which will be available for download from PTC's Software Updates page on May 29, 2003, and will begin shipping to customers on June 6, 2003
? Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire datecode 2003170, which will be available for download from PTC's Software Updates page on May 30, 2003, and will begin shipping to customers on June 9, 2003

If you are currently running Pro/E 2001, datecode 2003090 or earlier, PTC recommends that you not upgrade to Pro/ENGINEER 2001, datecode 2003120 or datecode 2003160. Please note that Pro/INTRALINK 3.3 has now been certified with Pro/ENGINEER Release 2001, datecode 2003090.

If you have already deployed Pro/E 2001, datecode 2003120 or datecode 2003160, PTC recommends that you avoid working with any of this data in earlier builds of Pro/ENGINEER 2001, as any models saved in this build will be incompatible with earlier builds of Pro/E Release 2001. However, once you have upgraded to Pro/ENGINEER 2001, datecode 2003161, and retrieved and saved the models, they will be compatible with Pro/E Release 2001, datecodes 2003090 or earlier. If you choose to retrieve models created in either datecode 2003120 or 2003160 in datecode 2003090 or earlier, you will likely experience regeneration failures and premature exits. If you save models (which were saved in datecode 2003120 or datecode 2003160) in datecode 2003090 or earlier, this may cause irreversible damage to your model files.

If you are currently running Pro/E Wildfire, datecode 2003100 or earlier, PTC recommends that you not upgrade to Pro/E Wildfire, datecode 2003130. Instead, once it is available, you should upgrade to Pro/E Wildfire, datecode 2003170, which will be certified with Pro/INTRALINK 3.3.

If you have already deployed Pro/E Wildfire, datecode 2003130, PTC recommends that you avoid working with any data created in this release, in earlier builds. However, once you have upgraded to Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire, datecode 2003170, and retrieved and saved the models, they will be compatible with Pro/E Wildfire, datecodes 2003100 or earlier. If you choose to retrieve models saved in datecode 2003130 in datecode 2003100 or earlier, you will likely experience regeneration failures and premature exits. If you save models (which were created in datecode 2003130) in datecode 2003100 or earlier, this may cause irreversible damage to your model files.
