1. Open the Control Panel (under the Windows Start button – Settings).
2. Double-click the System icon to open the System Properties dialog.
3. On the System Properties dialog, click the Hardware tab at the top.
4. On the Hardware page, click the Device Manager button located in the middle portion of the page.
5. The Device Manager applet will start up. Scroll down to the Ports entry and double-click. It should open up a list of ports recognized by Windows.
6. Double click the parallel port to which the SIM is currently attached (i.e. LPT1 or LPT2).
7. The Port Properties dialog will appear. Click the Port Settings tab at the top.
8. This is where the changes will be made. First, set the Filter Resource Method to “Use any interrupt assigned to port”. Then clear the “Enable legacy Plug and Play detection” checkbox in order to disable this feature.
9. Click OK to apply changes. Close all windows. Restart your machine.
