the top portion is done in Alias, the tripod and background are photo. since it's a comp, the most important thing is to match the perspective.
then match the light source, look at where the light source on the photo. and adjust the lighting in Alias, there is no good way to do it. it just need a lot of tweaking........
samething on the material, try to look at the any references material that can represent the material you try to cheat, for example, how glass's reflection, how shining is the material ...etc......to make this rendering real, the detail color mapping is also important, so spend time to scan the type and graph for mapping....
