1. Receiving programs at the Multi-DNC computer in FE mode
Multi-DNC must be in the Remote mode, as it uses the Program name on the CNC control to automatically name the files that are received at the Multi-DNC computer. The extra error checking characters are stripped off and only the main program is saved.
2. Sending programs to the Heidenhain CNC control in FE mode
Multi-DNC must be in the Remote mode, but there is no other interaction required at the Multi-DNC computer, as all of the work is done at the CNC control. To run a program in Direct (drip feed) DNC mode, pick that option from the control when you are copying the file from the DNC computer. The Messages feature of Multi-DNC will not work with FE protocol, and are not needed.
**** Some of the older Heidenhain TNC controls (150 Series) do not have an FE Protocol choice, instead use EXT protocol set up with "Blockwise" error checking. The following sections are for those earlier controls.
1. Receiving programs at the Multi-DNC computer in EXT mode
Because the program numbers must be known to load the programs back into the Heidenhain control, Multi-DNC must be in Remote mode when you are sending programs back to the DNC computer, so that they will be named consistently.
2. Sending programs to the Heidenhain CNC control in EXT mode
When you select the Read mode on the CNC, you have to type in the required file name, this information is transmitted to Multi-DNC, and it uses this to determine which file to send back to the CNC. Multi-DNC is in Remote mode, it finds the requested file, sends it back to the CNC control. To run a program in Direct (drip feed) DNC mode, pick that option from the control when you are copying the file from the DNC computer. The Heidenhain file name must match the actual program name. The Messages feature of Multi-DNC will not work with EXT protocol.
